How is Efamol Evening Primrose Oil extracted?Updated a day ago

At Efamol, we use Rigel® Evening Primrose Oil, a specially selected variety of Evening Primrose known for its naturally high levels of Gamma-Linolenic Acid (GLA).

To extract the oil from the seeds, we use a process called hexane extraction, followed by careful refining to ensure quality and purity.

What is hexane extraction?

Hexane extraction is an established method of obtaining oil from plant seeds. It uses a solvent called hexane to efficiently separate the oil from the seeds, including the valuable fatty acids naturally present.

How do we ensure the oil is pure?

Once extracted, the oil undergoes a controlled refining process designed to:

  • Remove the extraction solvent: Reduce residual hexane to meet applicable safety specifications.

  • Preserve valuable fatty acids: Maintain the oil's natural fatty acid composition, including GLA.

  • Ensure consistent quality: Produce a refined oil that meets our defined quality standards.

Why does Efamol use this method?

This process allows us to extract the oil efficiently while maintaining the high GLA content that makes Rigel® Evening Primrose Oil special.

The result is a carefully refined, quality-controlled Evening Primrose Oil used in our Efamol supplements.
