What parts of the fish are used to make Efamol fish oil?Updated a day ago
At Efamol, we use high-quality, food-grade fish body oil, produced using the whole fish rather than just the liver.
Why do we use fish body oil instead of fish liver oil?
Fish body oil provides a natural source of omega-3 fatty acids, including EPA and DHA, without the high levels of vitamins A and D typically found in fish liver oils, such as cod liver oil.
This is important because taking too much vitamin A can be harmful, particularly when combining supplements that contain the same nutrients.
What about purity and quality?
Our fish oil undergoes a carefully controlled purification process and rigorous quality testing to ensure it meets our standards.
Every batch is tested for mercury and approximately 50 other potential environmental contaminants, including heavy metals, PCBs and pesticides.
A note about pregnancy
If you're pregnant or planning a pregnancy, it's particularly important to be mindful of your vitamin A intake. The NHS advises avoiding supplements containing vitamin A (retinol), including cod liver oil, during pregnancy.
We recommend speaking to your GP, midwife or healthcare professional before taking any supplements during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
