What's the difference between Kids DHA Drops and Efalex Brain Formula?
Both products provide omega-3 DHA, an important fatty acid that contributes to the maintenance of normal brain function and vision.*
However, Efalex Brain Formula combines DHA-rich fish oil with GLA-rich Evening Primrose Oil, providing both omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids in one carefully developed formulation.
Why does Efalex contain GLA?
GLA (Gamma-Linolenic Acid) is an omega-6 fatty acid that the body can convert into other fatty acids, including DGLA and arachidonic acid (AA).
AA, alongside DHA, is naturally found in brain cell membranes, where both fatty acids play important structural roles.
By combining DHA-rich fish oil with Evening Primrose Oil, Efalex provides a broader range of fatty acids involved in normal fatty acid metabolism.
What about the research behind Efalex?
Efamol has been pioneering omega fatty acid research for decades, and Efalex formulations have been investigated in clinical studies involving children.
This research has explored the role of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids in children's nutrition, brain function and behaviour.
You can learn more about our scientific heritage and published research on our Efamol Research page.
The beneficial effect of DHA on the maintenance of normal brain function and vision is obtained with a daily intake of 250mg DHA.
What if my child doesn't eat oily fish?
The NHS recommends eating at least two portions of fish per week, including one portion of oily fish.
If your child rarely eats oily fish, an omega-3 supplement may be a convenient way to help increase their DHA intake.
